The event marked a significant step in the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in the southern United States.

The ceremony, held at the future site of the facility, included remarks from key figures such as Texas Business and Community Development Director Larry McManus, CertainTeed Roofing’s Vice President and General Manager Carmen Bodden, Bryan Mayor Bobby Gutierrez, Brazos County Judge Duane Peters, and CertainTeed Roofing’s Director of Strategy and Business Development Jill Betters.

As part of its dedication to STEM education and fostering manufacturing careers, CertainTeed Roofing presented a $20,000 check to the Bryan Independent School District (ISD) Education Foundation in support of the Bryan ISD Career and Technical Education Center.

Mark Rayfield, President and CEO of Saint-Gobain North America and CertainTeed, emphasized the company’s commitment to investing in the future talent of the manufacturing industry and building a lasting partnership with the Bryan ISD Technical Education Center.

The Bryan facility, supported by contributions of land, a zero-cost rail easement, local infrastructure support, and property tax savings through the Chapter 313 program, aligns with Saint-Gobain’s global goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. The co-location of the manufacturing and distribution centers aims to reduce the carbon footprint by minimizing product travel distance to market.

Carmen Bodden expressed excitement about expanding service capabilities to customers in Texas, highlighting the optimization of rail transportation with the support of Union Pacific.

Governor Greg Abbott praised CertainTeed for choosing to grow in Texas, citing the state’s longstanding position as the top exporting state in the nation. He congratulated the company on the groundbreaking of the new facility and expressed anticipation for ongoing growth and success in Texas.

This new facility represents CertainTeed’s first roofing plant since 2016 and aligns with Saint-Gobain’s global Grow & Impact strategy, focusing on expansion in key, fast-growing markets. The Bryan project follows recent growth investments, including acquisitions, expansions, and sustainability initiatives in North America.

The Bryan facility signifies Saint-Gobain’s dedication to sustainable manufacturing practices, with ongoing projects such as the glass mat facility in North Carolina and the expansion in Georgia. The company has also acquired technology from recycling partner Asphaltica, enhancing its ability to recycle asphalt shingle waste.

With over 145 manufacturing locations in the United States and Canada, Saint-Gobain continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability goals while contributing to the growth and development of the manufacturing industry in North America.
