On January 25, 2024, deputies from Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious male at a storage facility in the 4600 block of FM 2920. Upon arrival, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, prompting constable deputies to initiate a traffic stop.

The driver, later identified as 26-year-old Andrew Rehwinkel, refused to stop, leading constable deputies on a brief pursuit. The deputies successfully halted the vehicle, but Rehwinkel fled on foot. A foot pursuit, aided by Constable Canine Mitch, resulted in the quick apprehension of the suspect.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that Rehwinkel had previously received a criminal trespass warning for the property and was attempting to burglarize storage units. Additionally, the vehicle he was driving had been reported as stolen. Further inquiry revealed that Rehwinkel had open felony warrants for Burglary of a Building, Theft, Possession of a Criminal Instrument, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. He was also out on bond for Felony Evading, Vehicle Theft, Burglary, Theft, Criminal Mischief, and Failure to Stop and Give Information.

Andrew Rehwinkel was subsequently arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. He now faces charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle. As of now, the total bond for Rehwinkel has not been set by the 185th District Court.
