High-Stakes Traffic Stop Uncovers Wanted Felon with Removed Ankle Monitor and Loaded Firearm in Harris County

On January 8, 2024, a routine traffic stop conducted by a deputy from Constable Mark Herman’s Office at 1700 N Sam Houston PKWY W took an unexpected turn. During the investigation, the driver initially provided false information regarding his identity and date of birth.
Further scrutiny revealed the driver to be James Patrick Gwinn, a wanted individual with an active felony warrant for Assault of a Police Officer issued in Harris County. Adding to the gravity of the situation, Gwinn was already out on bond for a separate charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
