One Dead, Three Injured in East Lubbock Vehicle Crash

The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is investigating a collision involving a SUV and a motorcycle in East Lubbock.

Officers responded to a report of a collision with injuries at East Loop 289 and East 50th Street at 12:29 pm on August 8, 2023.

Through the initial course of the investigation, it appears a motorcycle, operated by 41-year-old Justin Fields was traveling east on East 50th Street and a SUV, driven by 36-year-old Victoria Soliz was traveling north in the 5000 block of the East Loop 289 access road before colliding at the intersection.

Both Fields and another passenger on the motorcycle, 34-year-old Deloris Halpain, suffered serious injuries. Soliz, the driver of the SUV, suffered moderate injuries, and a 16-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.

Fields and Halpain were transported to UMC via EMS. Soliz and the passenger in the SUV were transported to Covenant Medical Center vis EMS.

Fields succumbed on his injuries on August 10, 2023.

The investigation is ongoing.
