Fatal Shooting in Austin Linked to Family Disturbance in Kyle, Suspect Arrested

On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, the Hays County Sheriff’s office conducted an investigation into a family disturbance in Kyle, Texas. The investigation led authorities to suspect 43-year-old David Urias Mejia-Villagran, one of the involved individuals, may have been involved in a homicide at 2005 Willow Creek Drive in Austin, Texas.

Responding to the information, the Austin Police Department (APD) dispatched officers to the South Shore apartments located at 2005 Willow Creek Dr. Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased man in the parking lot with gunshot wounds. The victim was later identified as 28-year-old Jorge Ordonez-Perez.

Homicide Unit detectives and Crime Scene Unit specialists were called to the scene to process the evidence. The investigation unfolded, revealing that Mejia-Villagran allegedly shot Perez during a disturbance linked to a romantic relationship Perez had with Villagran’s wife.

As a result, Mejia-Villagran was taken into custody and charged with 1st-degree felony murder.
