DPS Sergeant Seriously Injured in Crash on IH-10, Fundraiser Launched for Recovery

On December 14, 2024, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Sergeant Daniel Cross was seriously injured in a crash on IH-10 near the 95-mile marker. A semi-truck towing a trailer attempted a U-turn at the center median, leaving the trailer blocking both westbound lanes. Sgt. Cross, who was traveling west, struck the trailer.
Following the crash, Sgt. Cross was transported to Del Sol Medical Center, where he is currently stable but faces a lengthy recovery process.
In response, the DPS Troopers Foundation has launched a fundraising campaign through Help-a-Hero to support the Cross family during this difficult time. A fee is charged upfront, with 100% of the donations going directly to the family.
