SPRING, Texas — A mother and daughter were arrested Friday after a disturbance at a Spring bar escalated into a struggle with deputies, according to Constable Mark Herman’s Office.

Deputies responded April 17, 2026, to Spring Tavern, located at 24401 Aldine Westfield Road, after receiving a disturbance call.

According to authorities, the bartender reported a woman who had previously been banned from the business was inside acting hostile and aggressive toward staff and security.

Deputies said they saw the woman leaving the business and stopped her outside to investigate. During the encounter, another woman, later identified as the suspect’s mother, allegedly instructed her daughter to leave the area and get into a vehicle.

Authorities said both women were told they were not free to leave because deputies were actively investigating the disturbance and possible criminal trespass.

Investigators said the daughter, identified as 26-year-old Keziah Smith, attempted to walk away as deputies moved to detain her and began resisting. During the struggle, authorities said her mother, 46-year-old Tanya Smith, intervened and attempted to interfere with deputies.

Even after both women were handcuffed, deputies said they continued resisting. While Keziah Smith was being placed into a patrol vehicle, she allegedly kicked a deputy.

After what authorities described as a brief struggle, both women were taken into custody.

Keziah Smith was charged with assault on a peace officer. Her bond had not been set as of Friday and the case is assigned to the 208th District Court.

Tanya Smith was charged with interfering with the duties of a public servant. Her bond was set at $100 by County Court 6.

The investigation remains ongoing.
