Crash Claims Life on Houston’s North Loop East: Speeding Pickup Plummets and Ignites Beneath Bridge

Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 3200 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610) around 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, January 27.

The victim, a 21-year-old male, was driving a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck westbound on the North Loop at a high rate of speed. The driver failed to maintain a single lane as he entered the Eastex North entrance ramp. Subsequently, he lost control of the vehicle, striking a sign and a guardrail on the west side of the entrance ramp.

The pickup truck then crossed the shoulder, collided with another guardrail, and ultimately landed upside down beneath the bridge. The vehicle caught fire with the male still inside.

Houston Fire Department paramedics, responding to the scene, pronounced the male deceased. No other individuals or vehicles were involved in the crash.

The identity of the deceased is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
