Woman Arrested in South Texas for Aggravated Assault and Endangering a Child After Intentional Vehicle Crash

In the early hours of Monday, January 29, 2024, Cameron County Sheriff Deputies responded to an aggravated assault at the intersection of FM 2893 and FM 1575 in Los Fresnos, Texas. Upon arrival, deputies encountered a 25-year-old male victim who claimed that his wife intentionally rear-ended his vehicle at the mentioned intersection.

The victim recounted that he had been at a friend’s house when he noticed his wife’s vehicle. After she honked at him, he left the friend’s house and headed to the intersection of FM 2893 and FM 1575, where his wife, identified as 31-year-old Larissa Rodriguez, allegedly intentionally crashed into his vehicle.

Upon questioning, Ms. Rodriguez provided an inconsistent statement to the Sheriff Deputies. Further investigation revealed that she had her infant child in the vehicle during the crash.

Subsequently, Sheriff Deputies arrested Ms. Larissa Rodriguez and transported her to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center pending arraignment. She faces charges of Aggravated Assault (TPC 22.02), a 2nd Degree Felony, and Endangering a Child (TPC 22.041), a State Jail Felony.

Authorities promptly reported the incident to Child Protective Services, and the child has been released to family members.
