CEDAR PARK, Texas — A man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison following a 2024 fentanyl investigation conducted by the Cedar Park Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit.

According to the Cedar Park Police Department, Wayne Westfall was sentenced on July 1 in connection with the case.

Investigators said that at the time of Westfall’s arrest, officers found 69 counterfeit “M-30” pills containing fentanyl inside his vehicle while his 4-year-old child was also inside.

A subsequent search of Westfall’s residence led to the discovery of an additional 137 fentanyl pills, police said.

Authorities noted that fentanyl is an extremely potent synthetic opioid and that even a small amount can be fatal. Counterfeit pills are often manufactured to resemble legitimate prescription medications, making them especially dangerous.

“The Cedar Park Police Department remains committed to holding fentanyl traffickers accountable and educating the community about the devastating impact these drugs continue to have on families,” the department said.

Fentanyl continues to be a leading contributor to overdose deaths across the United States, and law enforcement agencies have increased enforcement efforts targeting the distribution of counterfeit pills containing the drug.
