Brownsville Man Arrested for Violently Assaulting Girlfriend

On Sunday, October 15, 2023, at approximately 1:00 am, Cameron County Sheriff Deputies responded to a residence on the 2700 block of Avenida Gregory, Brownsville, Texas, following reports of an assault. Upon their arrival, deputies encountered a 24-year-old female victim with bleeding from her nose.

Emergency Medical Services promptly arrived to assess the victim’s condition. Through the course of the investigation, it was revealed that the victim and her 22-year-old boyfriend, Brandon Lee Garcia, had returned home from a party. An argument ensued, during which Garcia allegedly assaulted the victim, striking her face and body multiple times. The victim reported falling to the floor, and Garcia purportedly continued the assault by kicking her repeatedly.

The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where medical examination confirmed a broken nose. Garcia had fled the scene before the arrival of Sheriff Deputies.

In response to the severity of the victim’s injuries, Sheriff Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Brandon Lee Garcia, charging him with aggravated assault. On January 19, 2024, Sheriff Deputies successfully apprehended Garcia and transported him to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center pending arraignment.

Brandon Lee Garcia faces a charge of Aggravated Assault (causing serious bodily injury) Family Violence TPC 22.02, classified as a 1st Degree Felony.
