A 24-year-old woman was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) after crashing into an El Paso County Constable’s Office patrol unit early Saturday morning.
At approximately 2:44 a.m. on February 8, 2025, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigators responded to a crash in the 5300 block of Railroad Dr. The incident involved a marked patrol unit from Precinct 1 and a black Audi A4.
According to investigators, the deputy was traveling northbound with emergency lights activated while assisting with an ongoing call. The driver of the Audi, identified as Kimberly Dominguez, failed to observe the patrol unit and struck it from behind, causing significant damage to both vehicles.
The deputy was transported to the University Medical Center for evaluation and has since been released. Dominguez was taken into custody and charged with DWI, with her bond set at $2,000. She also had an outstanding warrant for driving without a license, carrying a $375 bond.
Sheriff Oscar Ugarte stated, “This crash underscores the risks that intoxicated drivers pose to law enforcement officers and the public. We remain committed to keeping our roads safe and holding those who drive under the influence accountable.”
Authorities urge drivers to make responsible decisions, designate sober drivers, and remain vigilant around emergency vehicles. Anyone who witnesses reckless or impaired driving is encouraged to report it immediately.
