Suspect Arrested in Identity Fraud Scheme at Conroe John Deere Dealership

CONROE, Texas – Detectives with the Conroe Police Department arrested a suspect Monday morning after intercepting an alleged identity fraud scheme at a John Deere dealership in Conroe, authorities said.
According to the Conroe Police Department, investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division were alerted to a suspicious credit application that appeared to use fraudulent personal information. Financial Crimes detectives coordinated with the dealership to monitor the transaction after determining it may be linked to identity theft.
Police said detectives responded when the suspect arrived at the business to complete the purchase and collect merchandise. The individual was intercepted at the location and detained for investigation.
During the on-scene investigation, detectives found the female suspect in possession of numerous fraudulent documents, including multiple identification cards, credit cards, and debit cards issued in different names. Authorities also recovered fraudulently obtained merchandise and items described as criminal tools, including disguises.
The suspect was arrested without incident and charged with fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, a second-degree felony. Her identity is being withheld as the investigation continues.
Police Chief Jon Buckholtz credited cooperation between the business and investigators for preventing further harm. He said the collaboration helped stop the alleged identity theft before additional financial damage could occur.
Detectives have identified at least 30 potential victims connected to the case. The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the full scope of the fraud and identify any additional victims.
