Couple Dead in College Station Car Wash Shooting, Murder-Suicide Suspected

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — A married couple is dead after a shooting Tuesday morning, September 16, 2025, at a College Station car wash that police say was a domestic violence-related incident.
Just before 9 a.m., College Station Police dispatchers received multiple 911 calls about shots fired near Longmire Drive and Deacon Drive. Responding officers and fire personnel located a man and woman unresponsive inside a wash bay at Wings Carwash & Washateria, 1801 Deacon Drive. Both were pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.
Surveillance video showed the woman washing her car when the man approached. She attempted to defend herself, even turning the high-pressure washer toward him, before she was shot. The man then shot himself.
The victims were identified as Katiusca Guedez De Cotiz, 40, of College Station, and her estranged husband, Wirmer Jose Cotiz Escobar, 43, also of College Station.
Investigators confirmed the couple was separated and that prior domestic incidents had been reported. Police emphasized that this was an isolated event and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
“This tragic event is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence,” CSPD said in a release. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division continue to review evidence and past reports involving the couple.
Authorities urge anyone experiencing domestic violence to reach out for help. Victims in College Station can contact CSPD directly or call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233.
