Antonio Pena

The Abilene Police Department Narcotics Unit, in collaboration with the Taylor County District Attorney’s Office, has charged 39-year-old Antonio Pena with First Degree Felony Murder in connection with the death of 21-year-old Michael Scott Henderson Jr.

Henderson was found deceased on January 22, 2024, in a small shed behind a residence on Locust Street. Initial indications pointed to a fatal overdose. However, following an extensive investigation, Pena was arrested on March 25, 2025, after an arrest warrant was served at his residence.

The case falls under the provisions of Texas House Bill 6, which became effective on September 1, 2023. The bill allows for murder charges to be brought against individuals who manufacture or deliver Fentanyl that leads to a person’s death.

The Abilene Police Department continues its ongoing efforts to combat the spread of Fentanyl, emphasizing the dangers associated with the drug and the department’s commitment to holding Fentanyl dealers accountable.
