Marek Dillard

On March 3, 2025, Marek Dillard was sentenced to 30 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for the murder of 22-year-old Remington Allison, who died from a fatal fentanyl overdose in Leander, Texas.

The incident occurred on September 21, 2023, when the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Organized Crime Unit responded to the overdose death of Allison at a residence in the 14000 block of Snelling Drive. Investigators quickly suspected that fentanyl-laced narcotics were involved and launched a comprehensive investigation.

The case led to the identification of Marek Dillard as the person responsible for supplying the fatal drugs. On February 6, 2024, a warrant for murder was issued, and Dillard was taken into custody on February 9, 2024.

This case marks the first time the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office has filed a murder charge in relation to a fentanyl overdose since the passage of House Bill 6, which allows for such charges to be filed when fentanyl is supplied, resulting in death. The law carries a minimum sentence of 15 years for convicted individuals.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to combating fentanyl distribution and ensuring that individuals who contribute to the overdose crisis are held accountable.
