A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday (December 16) at approximately 1:40 a.m. on the 8000 block of Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10), resulting in the death of a 31-year-old male victim.

The sequence of events began with a minor collision involving a Chevrolet Equinox and a Mercedes A220.

A gray Dodge Ram tow truck, traveling westbound near the scene, stopped to assist the two drivers who were standing outside their vehicles. As the wrecker driver provided assistance, a gray Jeep Wrangler, also traveling westbound, struck the rear of the Dodge pickup truck.

The impact caused the Jeep to continue its trajectory, colliding with the rear of the Mercedes and ultimately striking the driver of the Equinox.

Emergency services, including the Houston Fire Department paramedics, responded to the scene. The 31-year-old male victim was transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased on Sunday (December 17).

At the scene, the driver of the Jeep was identified as 32-year-old Asya Marshall. She was detained by authorities and subsequently determined to be intoxicated. Marshall now faces charges of intoxicated assault.
