Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Involved in Shooting Incident; Suspect in Critical Condition
On December 17, 2023, the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were involved in a shooting incident in Manvel, TX. The incident occurred at around 8:54 PM when a third-party caller reported a disturbance involving a man and a woman fighting over a firearm.
Upon arrival at the 200 block of Oak Crest Dr, deputies encountered Elloy Carrillo Jr. displaying a firearm. Verbal commands were issued to Carrillo to relinquish the weapon, but he refused to comply. Deputies then deployed a taser to subdue him. Following the taser deployment, Carrillo managed to retrieve the weapon and began firing at the BCSO deputies. In response, deputies returned fire, resulting in several injuries to Carrillo.
The wounded suspect was subsequently airlifted to a Houston-area hospital, where he is currently being treated for his injuries. Carrillo is in custody and reported to be in stable but critical condition. It was revealed that Carrillo Jr. was on parole for a 1998 murder conviction in Harris County.
In adherence to Sheriff’s Office Policy and standard procedure, the Texas Rangers will be leading the investigation into the incident, while the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office conducts an administrative review. All deputies involved will be placed on administrative leave pending the conclusion of the investigation.
