Walmart Theft Escalates into 60-Mile High-Speed Pursuit Through Harris and Montgomery Counties, Culminating in Drug Charges and Warrant Arrests

On the night of January 12, 2024, a theft call at Walmart escalated into a 60-mile motor vehicle pursuit, ultimately leading to drug charges and the apprehension of individuals with outstanding warrants.

Humble Police Night Shift B responded to reports of theft and tag swapping at Walmart around 10:30 pm. Upon locating the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene, an attempted traffic stop was met with resistance, initiating a pursuit. The Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter joined the efforts.

Heading westbound on FM 1960 Bypass towards Spring, Harris County units joined the chase. However, as the pursuit continued north on IH-45 into Montgomery County, Harris County units had to disengage, and appreciation was expressed for their initial assistance.

In a crucial moment, a Humble Officer connected with a Shenandoah Officer working in the pursuit’s path. The Shenandoah Police Department jumped in to assist the solo Humble unit, earning gratitude for their support.

The pursuit continued into Conroe, with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Conroe Police Department, Texas Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden, Pct. 4 Constable, Montgomery County, TX, and additional support from the Texas Department of Public Safety, ensuring comprehensive assistance.

After covering approximately 60 miles, the suspect vehicle crashed into a ditch, leading to the apprehension of both the driver and passenger. Authorities discovered multiple narcotics during the arrest. The woman driver faced a blue warrant for parole violation, while the passenger had a felony warrant.
