Two Arrested, Third Suspect Sought in North Abilene Shooting of 12-year-old Girl

In an incident that occurred on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 10:19 p.m., the Abilene Police Department received a distress call reporting an injured individual in the 1600 block of Graham St. in North Abilene. The victim, a 12-year-old female, had sustained a gunshot wound while inside her residence. It was determined that the gunshot had originated from outside the home.

Following the call, law enforcement officers swiftly located a suspect vehicle nearby. Two individuals, one adult and one juvenile, were apprehended for questioning in connection to the incident.

Elmer Rodriguez, aged 17, was subsequently arrested and charged with Second Degree Felony Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He is currently in custody at the Taylor County Jail. The juvenile suspect was also taken into custody and transported to the Taylor County Juvenile Detention Center.

The injured victim was promptly transported to a local hospital and later transferred via CareFlight to the Metroplex due to the severity of her injuries.

In an update to the case, investigators located a third suspect, identified as Nicholas Baker, also 17 years old. Baker has been arrested and charged with Second Degree Felony Aggravated Assault. He, too, is being held at the Taylor County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
