Houston Police Seek Suspect in Fatal Shooting of Ex-Girlfriend in Brays Oaks Area

The Houston Police Department is actively searching for a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman at 8700 Gustine Lane, which occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. on October 8. The suspect has been identified as Roger Betancourt-Castillo, a 40-year-old individual who is now facing murder charges in the 228th State District Court.
The victim in this incident has been identified as Miriam Martinez Pol, aged 56.
Authorities responded to a call reporting a female gunshot victim in an apartment at the aforementioned address. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Ms. Martinez Pol suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center, where she was subsequently pronounced deceased.
Following a investigation, law enforcement identified Roger Betancourt-Castillo, the victim’s ex-boyfriend, as the prime suspect in this case. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was promptly contacted, resulting in the filing of a murder charge against Betancourt-Castillo. As of now, the suspect remains at large.
