Transgender Woman Shoots Boyfriend in Self-Defense During Assault at Houston Residence

A suspect has been arrested in connection with an assault that occurred at 1303 Gears Road around 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday (February 14). Identified as William Christopher Strickland, aged 37, he faces charges of assaulting a family member.

Following the altercation, Strickland sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to an area hospital where he remains hospitalized. The shooter, a transgender female aged 24, did not sustain serious injuries.

Houston Police officers responded to a report of shots fired at the aforementioned address and found Strickland with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

Upon further investigation and witness statements, it was revealed that Strickland and the transgender female, who had a dating relationship, engaged in a physical altercation. Strickland allegedly strangled the victim, prompting her to shoot him in self-defense.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was informed of the incident, leading to Strickland being charged for his involvement.
