Train Collides with Stuck Truck at Alvin Railroad Crossing

At approximately 8:43 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, a commercial truck became stuck on the tracks at the Ave E 1/2 railroad crossing and was struck by an oncoming train. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The crossing is marked with multiple warning signs in both English and Spanish stating “Absolutely No Truck Crossing” due to the steep incline of the tracks. Despite the clear signage, the truck driver attempted to cross, resulting in the preventable collision.

The train remains immovable, leading to the closure of railroad crossings at Ave E 1/2, Gordon, and Tovrea. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes while authorities work to clear the area.

The Alvin Police Department and local officials are addressing the incident and urge all drivers, particularly those operating large vehicles, to adhere to posted signage to prevent similar occurrences.
