Suspected Serial ATM Robber Charged with Additional Aggravated Robbery in Harris County

Detectives with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crime Unit have filed an additional aggravated robbery charge against Matthew Alex Johnson, 25, in connection with a series of ATM robberies. Johnson was already in custody for a separate aggravated robbery incident.

The investigation was launched into ATM robberies occurring at the Bank of America located at 13331 SH 249. Preliminary findings from March 14, 2025, indicate that a victim using a standalone ATM was approached by a male suspect who demanded money using hand gestures while implying he had a handgun in his waistband.
