Suspect Arrested for Shooting at Houston Officers in Greater Fifth Ward
Justin Tramaine Williams

Charges have been filed against Justin Tramaine Williams, 31, after he fired shots at Houston Police Department (HPD) officers on Tuesday, January 2, at approximately 12:55 p.m.

The suspect is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm in the 339th State District Court.

The incident unfolded as HPD Narcotics Division officers conducted a surveillance operation near 3000 Wayne Street in Greater Fifth Ward. The suspect approached the officers’ unmarked police vehicle to inspect its occupants, and upon his return, he was armed with a pistol. Williams fired shots, hitting the vehicle multiple times, but the officers inside were unharmed, and they did not discharge their duty weapons.

HPD arrested Williams without further incident. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was notified, and charges were filed against him for his involvement in the shooting. Williams is now booked into the Harris County Jail. Thankfully, no HPD officers were injured in the incident.
