Stolen Vehicle Suspect Killed on East Sam Houston Parkway North After Foot Pursuit

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A male suspect in a stolen vehicle was killed Friday night after being struck on the main lanes of East Sam Houston Parkway North, Harris County deputies report.

Around 10:00 p.m. on October 10, District 3 deputies responded to the 5700 block of the Parkway after reports of a stolen vehicle linked to a homicide in Louisiana. Deputies observed two occupants inside the vehicle and attempted to stop it. The vehicle briefly evaded deputies in a parking lot before both occupants fled on foot.

The male driver was captured in a nearby neighborhood, but the passenger climbed onto the main lanes of the highway and was struck by a northbound 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. Southlake EMS arrived and pronounced the male deceased at the scene. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene and was cooperative, showing no signs of intoxication.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the incident. Officials note that the preliminary information does not reflect the final findings of the investigation.
