The proactive tracking efforts of a stolen truck owner led Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies to a location on Decker Drive on April 27, 2025, at approximately 7:00 a.m., where they discovered a larger auto theft operation.

Upon arrival, deputies found two males actively removing identifying markings from the stolen truck. Simultaneously, they observed a female entering a newer model recreational vehicle (RV) parked nearby. Deputies made contact with all three individuals and subsequently detained them.

Detectives from the Auto Theft Task Force took over the investigation and confirmed that the RV was also stolen, originating from Brazos County. The investigation further revealed a trailer and two additional stolen vehicles at the location. Authorities also discovered marijuana and methamphetamine, leading to additional narcotics charges.

The individuals arrested were identified as 31-year-old Matthew Raines of Cypress, 27-year-old Michael Hughes of Waller, and 47-year-old Desiree Rushing of Houston. All three are currently held in the Montgomery County Jail facing multiple charges related to theft and possession of controlled substances.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to uncover any further connections related to these thefts. The Montgomery County Auto Theft Task Force receives funding and training from the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority.
