Residential Fire Incident Claims Life in Van Horn, Texas

In the early hours of January 15, 2024 at approximately 1:30 a.m., first responders from the Culberson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a distress call reporting a residential fire at 611 Eisenhower in Van Horn, Texas.

Upon arrival, sheriff deputies and firefighters encountered heavy smoke engulfing the residence. Their immediate focus was on rescuing the occupants, leading them to discover an unresponsive 31-year-old man lying on the kitchen floor.

With urgency, sheriff deputies and firefighters worked collaboratively to extract the individual from the smoke-filled home. The victim was transported to Culberson Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
