Fatal Shooting in Harris County: Estranged Husband Killed, Alleged Shooter Detained

In the early hours of January 16, 2024, Harris County Pct 4 deputies responded to a shooting at the 3700 block of Woodlace, near Woodland Hills (Atascocita). A 39-year-old adult male was confirmed deceased on the scene, and a 39-year-old female was detained. Harris County Sheriff’s Office CSI & Homicide Investigators also responded.

The victim was identified as the estranged common-law husband of the alleged shooter. Preliminary reports revealed that several police reports had been filed in the previous days concerning the ongoing situation between the individuals.

According to investigators, the victim arrived at the location and proceeded to the back door, where he kicked it in and attempted to enter the home. It was discovered that the victim was armed with a handgun at the time of the incident.

The alleged shooter is said to be cooperating with investigators, and no charges are expected to be filed at this time. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be presented to a grand jury by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
