Pedestrian Dead in Austin Hit-and-Run on Airport Blvd
A devastating hit-and-run incident occurred on Thursday, November 23, 2023, around 9:40 p.m., as Austin Police Department (APD) officers swiftly responded to a collision between a pick-up truck and a pedestrian in the 4500 block of Airport Boulevard. The driver fled the scene without stopping or alerting emergency services. Tragically, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on-site.
This heart-wrenching event adds to the alarming tally of fatal crashes in Austin for the year, making it the 80th such incident in 2023, resulting in a total of 83 lives lost. A somber comparison to the same date in the preceding year, where 97 fatal crashes occurred, claiming 101 lives.
The initial assessment of the fatal crash has been undertaken, but the investigation is still pending. Authorities caution that the fatality information is subject to change as the investigation progresses.
