Officers with the Conroe Police Department responded around 11:50 a.m. on April 11, 2026, to the 3600 block of South Loop 336 East following reports of a collapse at a job site.

Investigators said a crew with Engitex Construction was installing underground piping when a trench with approximately 10-foot dirt walls gave way, trapping two workers.

One worker, identified as 34-year-old Yonatan Arevalo Molina of Houston, was rescued and transported to a local hospital. He has since been released.

The second worker, identified as 44-year-old Jose Arevalo of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was transported to the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Authorities said there is no indication of foul play, and the incident appears to be accidental.
