Montgomery County Man Indicted For Secretly Giving Pregnant Woman Abortion-Inducing Drug
Jon Rueben Gabriel Demeter

CONROE, Texas – A Montgomery County grand jury has indicted a 25-year-old man on first-degree felony charges after prosecutors say he secretly administered an abortion-inducing drug to a pregnant woman without her knowledge or consent, resulting in the death of her unborn child.

According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Jon Rueben Demeter was indicted on charges of:

  • Performance of an Abortion
  • Injury to a Child

Both charges are first-degree felonies under Texas law.

Investigation Began Earlier This Year

According to the indictments, Demeter allegedly administered a substance or medication to a pregnant woman in February 2026 without her knowledge or consent.

Prosecutors allege the act caused the death of the unborn child and resulted in serious bodily injury to the woman.

The case was filed in the 221st District Court, where Lisa Michalk is presiding.

The investigation was led by Brandon Bartoskewitz of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Prosecutors Call Allegations ‘Deeply Troubling’

Mike Holley said the allegations involve “deliberate deception” with devastating consequences.

“The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office will continue to pursue justice based on the facts, the evidence, and the laws of the State of Texas,” Holley said.

Chief Prosecutor Laura Hill said the case involves allegations tied to bodily autonomy and victim protection.

“These allegations describe conduct that is both deeply troubling and profoundly harmful,” Hill said. “Our responsibility is to carefully evaluate the evidence, apply the law as written, and seek justice on behalf of victims and this community.”

Officials declined to comment further because the prosecution remains ongoing.

Authorities are asking anyone with additional information related to the case to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

As with all criminal cases, Demeter is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
