Charges have been filed against 27-year-old Rigo Pena, Jr. in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on September 9 at 4115 Weaver Road. Pena, Jr. is facing charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 178th State District Court.

The victim, identified as Tom Louis, 55, lost his life in the incident, while another victim, aged 57, was wounded and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Houston Police Department (HPD) Homicide Division Detectives K. Lovelace and M. Hughey provided the following details:

HPD officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Weaver Road residence on September 9, around 1:40 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered one man unresponsive in the front yard, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by Houston Fire Department paramedics, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another man was also found with multiple gunshot wounds and was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for medical care.

Preliminary investigations and witness statements revealed that Mr. Louis, the deceased victim, had engaged in a verbal altercation with an unidentified suspect. During the confrontation, the suspect attempted to draw a firearm from his waistband, leading to a struggle involving both victims. Tragically, the firearm discharged multiple times, injuring both victims.

The suspect, known only as “Junior” and described as a Hispanic male, fled the scene in a maroon, four-door pickup truck of unknown make or model.

Subsequent investigations identified Rigo Pena, Jr. as the primary suspect in the case. Warrants for murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon were issued for his arrest. On Monday, September 18, Pena, Jr. voluntarily surrendered to officers from the HPD Northeast Crime Suppression Team. He was taken into custody without incident and subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail.
