Known Copper Thief Apprehended in Stolen Vehicle in Channelview

Harris County Deputies from Constable Sherman Eagleton Precinct 3 office apprehended a known copper thief, identified as Ivan Palmer, during routine patrol on the 6500 block of Sheldon Rd in Channelview, Texas.

The suspect was spotted driving a white Ford F250 with license plates registered to a local Houston company.

Observing the suspicious activity, deputies contacted the company to verify the vehicle’s status. The company confirmed the truck was missing, and no authorized personnel were given permission to use it. Palmer was detained and questioned, claiming he had borrowed the vehicle from a friend.

Further investigation revealed Palmer’s connection to recent copper wire thefts in the Crosby and Highlands areas. A local business provided surveillance footage showing Palmer at their establishment the previous night, wearing the same clothing. Deputies subsequently charged Palmer with “unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.”

Following his arrest, Ivan Palmer was booked into the Harris County Jail. Deputies continue their investigation into the copper wire thefts, and additional charges may be pending.
