Infant Fatally Injured in Montgomery County: Suspect Charged, Investigation Ongoing

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) received a report from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services on April 14, 2024, regarding a severely injured 3-month-old child at a local hospital. The MCSO’s Special Victim’s Unit, in collaboration with Child Protective Services, launched a thorough investigation into the incident.

Detectives identified Melvin Jesus Aquino Enriquez as a suspect residing at a home in Porter, TX, where the infant and mother also resided. Enriquez was found to have committed an act of Assault, Family Violence-Strangulation, and was arrested on April 17, 2024. He was charged with Injury to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury. Sadly, the child passed away on April 21, 2024.

Enriquez remains in Montgomery County Jail with a bond set at $750,000 for the two charges. He is also under an ICE hold due to his immigration status.

The MCSO acknowledges the support of the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Child Protective Services, and Children’s Safe Harbor in the investigation.

The investigation continues, awaiting autopsy results to determine further charges.
