High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Arrest by Lufkin Police: Splendora Man Faces Multiple Charges Including Drug Possession

Richard Alldredge, 37, of Splendora, was arrested by Lufkin Police after leading officers on a high-speed pursuit yesterday evening, September 28, 2023. The chase began when officers tried to check on Alldredge’s welfare following a report of a man driving a Ford sedan with his driver’s door open. At the intersection of College Drive and South First Street, Alldredge, not wearing a seat belt and visibly agitated, ran a red light as officers attempted to make contact.

The pursuit continued from College Drive to Loop 287, with Alldredge taking the Ford Chapel Road exit. He drove recklessly past vehicles and people near the Lufkin High School practice fields. Alldredge then went under the overpass at Lufkin Avenue, driving the wrong way into oncoming traffic on the southbound feeder before eventually crashing his vehicle into a tree line along the Loop. Alldredge attempted to flee on foot into the woods but was apprehended by officers.

During the 8-minute pursuit, speeds reached up to 90 mph. Alldredge now faces charges of evading with a vehicle, evading arrest, and possession of a dangerous drug. The drug, suboxone, is used to treat opioid addiction, and Alldredge was found in possession of 97 packets without a prescription.
