At approximately 12:31 p.m., Harris County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to a report of an adult male suffering from a stab wound. On arrival, deputies and a Precinct 3 school resource officer discovered an unresponsive Hispanic male, believed to be in his twenties, lying outside a residence with severe stab wounds. Following a blood trail from the scene, deputies located an adult female in her thirties inside a nearby mobile home, also unresponsive and exhibiting apparent injuries. Emergency personnel pronounced both victims dead at the scene. The victims are tentatively identified as siblings 28-year-old Nelson Alatorre and 35-year-old Karla Alatorre.
Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists processed the scene, interviewed witnesses, and examined forensic evidence. Investigators identified Banegas-Solorzano, a native of Honduras with a prior deportation, as the suspect. He was believed to be driving a blue Toyota 2-door coupe with license plate VKD-0490.

During questioning, Banegas-Solorzano confessed to stabbing the male victim, Nelson Alatorre, but denied stabbing the female victim, Karla Alatorre. He reportedly told investigators that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.
