Former Middle School Teacher Arrested in Montgomery County Child Indecency Case

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A former school employee is in custody after authorities obtained an arrest warrant in a child indecency investigation, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

38-year-old Garrett W. Cross was charged with indecency with a child in connection with an incident involving a middle school student that occurred more than five years ago while he was employed at Pine Valley Middle School in Porter.

Investigators said Cross is currently employed by the Humble Independent School District. District officials have placed him on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Authorities obtained the arrest warrant May 7, and Cross turned himself in to the Sheriff’s Office the following day. His bond was set at $30,000 and has bonded out of jail. He was officially charged with Indecency with Child Sexual Contact.

The case is being handled by the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit in coordination with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office Public Integrity Division.
