Teen Killed, Another Critically Injured in South Belt Area Shooting, Houston Police Say

HOUSTON, Texas — A 16-year-old boy was killed and another male was critically injured in a shooting Thursday afternoon in Houston’s South Belt/Ellington area, according to the Houston Police Department.
Police identified the deceased victim as Jadiel Rodriguez, 16.
According to HPD Homicide Division Sgt. J. Nielsen and Detective A. Herrera, officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 3:55 p.m. on May 7 in the 8700 block of Blackhawk Ridge Lane.
When officers arrived, they found Rodriguez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Personnel with the Houston Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced him dead.
Investigators said a second male also suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
Police said no suspects have been identified at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
