HOUSTON, Texas — A fast-moving, multi-state investigation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest of an adult and a juvenile accused of planning an attack targeting the Jewish community in Houston.

Authorities said 18-year-old Angelina Hicks of Lexington, North Carolina, was arrested April 22, 2026, following an investigation involving the FBI’s Charlotte Field Office and local law enforcement. A juvenile suspect was also charged in Harris County, Texas.

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began Tuesday evening after a tip was reported to North Carolina authorities. The FBI Charlotte Joint Terrorism Task Force and local investigators quickly launched an inquiry into threats involving Hicks.

Detectives responded to Hicks’ residence on Linwood Southmond Road in Lexington, where they said evidence was discovered indicating she and co-conspirators were planning a mass-casualty attack.

Investigators said the intended target was Congregation Beth Israel in Houston.

On April 22, Hicks was taken into custody by Davidson County investigators and charged with felony conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, and felony conspiracy to commit murder.

A district court judge set her bond at $10 million.

Authorities said a juvenile connected to the case was charged in Harris County. Additional details about the juvenile were not released.

Officials said the investigation involved coordination between the FBI’s Charlotte and Houston field offices, as well as partnerships with members of the Jewish community, including the Jewish Federation.

The FBI emphasized that the case highlights the importance of reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement.

The investigation remains ongoing.
