Death Investigation Underway in Splendora; Victim Identified in Possible Auto-Pedestrian Crash

SPLENDORA, Texas — Authorities are investigating the death of a man found along U.S. Highway 59, with early evidence suggesting the incident may involve a vehicle, according to the Splendora Police Department.

Officers responded May 7 to the 15000 block of U.S. Highway 59 after receiving a report of a possible deceased individual. Upon arrival, officers and personnel with the Montgomery County Hospital District confirmed the man was dead at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Gary Dynell Belvin of Houston.

Investigators said preliminary evidence indicates the incident may be related to an auto-pedestrian crash. Due to the complexity of the scene, the department’s Accident Reconstruction Team was called in to conduct a detailed analysis.

Authorities later requested assistance from Montgomery County Major Crimes, and the case is now being handled in coordination with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.

Officials said the investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lt. T. Teller through the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 936-538-5900 and reference case number 26C008955.
