Collision Claims Life of Texas Tech University Student in Lubbock
The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is currently conducting an investigation into a collision that occurred on Saturday evening, September 23, 2023, resulting in one person sustaining serious injuries.
At approximately 10:12 pm, officers were dispatched to the scene of a traffic crash with injuries at the intersection of the eastbound access road of Marsha Sharp Freeway and University Avenue. Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that 21-year-old Justin Turner was positioned on the east side of the 400 block of University Avenue at the time of the incident.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Raven Barrow was driving a passenger car northbound in the same 400 block of University Avenue. Turner attempted to cross University Avenue in a westward direction when he was struck by Barrow’s vehicle.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived at the scene and transported Turner to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, it has been confirmed by the Lubbock Police Department that Turner succumbed to his injuries around 2:00 a.m. on September 27, 2023.
Justin Turner was identified as a student at Texas Tech University.
