Brownsville Man Apprehended in Connection to Morningside Park Aggravated Assault
In a collaborative effort between the Brownsville Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Marc Anthony Arambul, 20, was apprehended in connection with an aggravated assault that transpired on August 30, 2023, at Morningside Park, located on the 1200 block of S. Central Avenue.
On the evening of August 30, 2023, at around 8:20 pm, Brownsville Police Patrol Officers swiftly responded to Morningside Park following a report of shots fired near the kickball field. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a victim who recounted the events leading up to the incident. According to the victim, Arambul, accompanied by several other male individuals, had been circling the park, making eye contact with him. At one point, Arambul exited the passenger side of a vehicle and brandished a handgun from his waistband. In response, the victim’s family gathered around him, prompting Arambul and the other men to flee the scene on foot.
Shortly thereafter, Arambul discharged several rounds near the kickball field, causing panic and fear among park spectators. An eyewitness recorded the incident and subsequently shared the video on social media platforms. Additionally, law enforcement discovered bullet casings at the scene, which were collected as evidence.
Following a thorough investigation by the Criminal Investigations Unit, a warrant was secured for Arambul’s arrest. On September 20, 2023, authorities took Arambul into custody. He now faces charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, classified as a 2nd Degree Felony, and Deadly Conduct/Discharge Firearm, categorized as a 3rd Degree Felony.
Arambul appeared for arraignment on September 21, 2023, during which he was issued an $85,000 bond. The legal proceedings will continue as the case progresses through the judicial system.
