Austin Police Seek Suspect Connected to Two Wells Fargo Bank Robberies

The Austin Police Department Robbery Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man believed to be involved in two separate bank robberies at Wells Fargo branches.

The first incident occurred on Friday, August 25, 2023, at the Wells Fargo bank located at 1825 South Pleasant Valley Rd. During this incident, the suspect presented a note to the bank teller, demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect left the bank on foot.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male with a medium build. He has distinctive tattoos, one across his throat and another on his right wrist. At the time of the first robbery, he was seen wearing a white sun hat, a surgical mask, dark gray sweatpants, a gray long sleeve t-shirt with the words “popeye” and “1929” on the chest, and “heavyweight champion of the world” on the back. He also wore white Nike Air Jordan sneakers and a gray neck gaiter.

The second robbery occurred on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at approximately 1:50 p.m. at the Wells Fargo bank located at 2326 South Congress Avenue, approximately 2.5 miles away from the first robbery. Once again, the suspect handed a note to the teller demanding money. Surveillance footage from the bank helped detectives connect this incident to the previous robbery. The suspect was also observed wearing some of the same clothing.

In the second robbery, the suspect was seen wearing a white sun hat, a surgical mask, dark blue cargo pants, a gray long sleeve t-shirt, white sneakers, a neon green neck gaiter, and red-framed sunglasses around his neck.
