Arrest Made in Houston Woman’s Murder: Suspect Apprehended by Gulf Coast Task Force

The Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force has apprehended Anthony Sorel Haywood, aged 42, in connection with the murder of a Houston woman.

On Monday, February 19th, 2024, at around 3 am, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call concerning a deceased female at a residence in the 9300 block of Spindlewood Drive in Houston, Fort Bend County, Texas. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Coralyn Hunt, aged 38, deceased inside the residence. Three of her children were found unharmed. Hunt had been fatally shot within her home.

Subsequent investigation by detectives led to the identification of Anthony Sorel Haywood, who had been romantically involved with Hunt, as a suspect. On March 1st, 2024, around 1 pm, Haywood was apprehended in the 6700 block of Long Point Rd, Houston, Texas, by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.

Haywood is currently detained on a Murder warrant issued by the Fort Bend County 434th District Court, with a bond set at $1,000,000.

Sheriff Eric Fagan expressed his sentiments on the matter, stating, “It’s a tragedy when someone’s life is taken away, especially when at the hands of another human being. I’d like to thank the investigators for tirelessly working on this case to identify a suspect. I’d also like to thank the task force for their assistance in his arrest.”
