Amarillo Police Seek Public Assistance in Unsolved Murder Case
The Amarillo Police Homicide Unit is reaching out to the community for help in solving the unsolved murder of Markell Damarion Toombs-Reed, which occurred on January 26 earlier this year.
Authorities were alerted to the incident when a neighbor reported hearing gunshots in the 4100 block of S. Travis. Upon arrival, police found Markell Damarion Toombs-Reed lying in the street, suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Detectives have identified a suspect vehicle captured on surveillance cameras. Video evidence indicates the involvement of multiple suspects in the shooting incident. The police have released a photo of the suspects exiting the vehicle, hoping that someone in the community may recognize them.
The suspect vehicle is described as a Chevrolet Impala, and its color appears to be silver, gray, pewter, beige, or a similar shade. Due to the early morning hour when the vehicle was captured on camera, the exact color is challenging to determine definitively.
In an effort to gather more information and bring justice to Markell Damarion Toombs-Reed and his family, the Amarillo Police Department has released a photograph of both the suspect vehicle and the victim. They urge anyone with knowledge about the incident or the identity of the suspects to come forward.
