Texas DPS Captures Three of State’s Most Wanted Offenders

Three of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted offenders are back in custody, announced the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Juan Huerta and Jesse Vega were arrested on March 26 and April 3, respectively, while Hayden Abel III was arrested on April 2. A Texas Crime Stoppers reward will be paid for Abel’s arrest.

Juan Carlos Huerta, 35, was captured in Amarillo by the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force with assistance from DPS Special Agents and the Amarillo Police Department. Huerta was wanted since December 2023 for multiple charges including aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Jesse Mario Vega, 37, was apprehended in San Antonio by the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force along with DPS Special Agents, TDCJ Office of the Inspector General, Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, and others. Vega had been wanted since September 2023 for a parole violation.

Hayden Brince Abel III, 40, associated with the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas gang, was captured in Ingleside by DPS Special Agents, Texas Highway Patrol Troopers, and the DPS Region 3 Special Response Team. Abel had been wanted since December 2023 for probation violation and failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
