Bryan Police Officer Shot While Confronting Armed Suspect; Suspect Detained

A Bryan Police Department (BPD) officer was shot while attempting to confront an armed suspect on March 1, 2025, at 8:01 p.m., in the 1800 block of Sandy Point Road, according to BPD officials.

The officer observed a known suspect displaying a handgun with three other individuals near 1828 Sandy Point Road. As the officer approached, the suspect opened fire through a vehicle, striking the officer once in an extremity. The officer was treated at a local medical facility and later released.

The suspect fled into a wooded area, prompting a large-scale response from BPD and surrounding agencies. Authorities later detained a suspect, and there is no active threat to the public.

The College Station Police Department Drone Pilots and K9’s assisted in the search. The Bryan Police Department expressed gratitude to the community and law enforcement agencies involved in the response.
