Woman Arrested in Connection with Vehicle Burglaries at Mount Bonnell
Armynie White

On Friday, January 31, 2025, at around 7:30 p.m., Austin Police Department officers responded to a report of individuals attempting to break into cars in the parking area at Covert Park at Mount Bonnell, a known hot spot for vehicle burglaries.

A caller reported seeing suspects “pulling door handles” and provided officers with the license plate number of a white Honda Accord, which matched previous reports linked to other vehicle burglaries at city parks. The caller also described the suspects and noted they were using a tool to break car windows.

Upon arriving, officers found a car with a shattered front window and spoke with the owner, who said her purse was missing. After a brief search, the purse was found nearby, minus the bank cards.

A female suspect was detained and identified herself, revealing she had an active warrant for her arrest. During the investigation, officers found items inside the suspect’s vehicle, including the missing bank cards, a balaclava, gloves, a screwdriver, cash, a small amount of methamphetamine and fentanyl, and numerous gift cards believed to have been bought with stolen credit cards.

The woman initially provided a false identity but was later identified as 21-year-old Armynie White. She was found to have a window punch tool and the keys to the Honda hidden in her sock.

Armynie White has been charged with Failure to Identify as a Fugitive (Class A Misdemeanor) and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (State Jail Felony).

The Austin Police Department credits the attentive caller for providing critical information that led to White’s arrest. Additional arrests and charges are expected as the investigation continues.
