The Waco Police Department is mourning the loss of Officer Marshall Hobbs, who dedicated his life to serving others.

Hobbs, originally from El Paso, Texas, moved to Waco before joining the department in January 2021 as a police recruit. Before his law enforcement career, he served in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood from 2016 to 2021, reaching the rank of E-5 Sergeant. After graduating from the 78th Police Academy, he served as an overnight patrol officer, earning a Life-Saving Award and a Merit Unit Award during his tenure.

Colleagues remember Hobbs for his sharp wit, intelligence, and dependability. He was known for his commitment to protecting the community and supporting his fellow officers.

Hobbs is survived by his wife, family, and many friends. His loss is deeply felt by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
